You Are The Common Denominator

Image
Hi There  Unfortunately we are the the common denominator in ALL our circumstances, so usually the blame moves to us. A better way to say this is that we internalise it like it is our fault. Disclaimer: not everyone does, we do get blamers that are never at fault and then we get the total opposites that no matter what they take blame; then there ate the oblivious one who just don't get any if; lastly there are those in all the groups that do not have the emotional maturity to know what they are feeling and how it affects them and others. That said we have the power to change all of it. Usually we build our own obstacles around us, not our circumstances. Yes, they play a huge role in our lives and how we perceive everything, but we can choose to bend to our surroundings or bend our mind to change how it affects us.  If your circumstances are confining you do not add to it. Free your mind and start focusing within you and make that change happen. Life our life. Make that decision

Rolling With The Punches Just Got Real

Image
Hi There  Sometimes things do not go as planned. In fact they go way, way wrong. As a Sport Scientist I see this alot in the sporting environment. We train towards a goal/tournament and we lose due to a technicality or because of bad behaviour. What we need to understand is that there is so much factors that influence our performance. Most if not all to a degree we have no control over them.  This is why training for all of them is impossible but necessary. All the factors should be brought into training. That is why teams has game plan sessions and strategy planning. Because we need to prepare for the unexpected and unforeseen if possible.  The bad part is even if we train for the unsuspected we still have to deal with the technicalities and roll with the punches. As athletes we can not get hung up on the coach/Referee/officials. We still need to perform under scrutiny. We need to build up resilience and not let anything impact their performance.  Resilience is one thing that

Putting In The Effort

Image
Hi There  I love my job. I love that I get to help and see other peoples' progress. I feel honored being a part of their journey.  But THEY need to put in the effort. When we start on their movement journey, we enter into an accountability relationship. This means we are accountable towards each other and our goals. I need to design programmes that challenges you in every way and that meets your physical standards and i need to make sure all this happens in a safe and productive way. YOU need to do the WORK. YOU need to put IN the EFFORT at your highest ability for it to work. I CAN NOT DO IT FOR YOU! I can shout, jump, do every movement with you whatever it takes, but I CANNOT DO THE WORK FOR YOU! Even if I sometimes wish I could.  Remember we are in this together. Sometimes it takes longer to see results or due to injury we get frustrated, but that is life. We have to push through the feelings and follow Nike and JUST DO IT. We might even have to start over or go in a diffe

What It Takes To Call Yourself An Athlete

Image
Hi There Not everyone can be an athlete or even wants to be an athlete. Now for some clarification. When I talk about Athlete I am referring to a person training for a sport and competing on an international level or at least trying to get in to the international scene, but nationally he/she is on top of the ranks. They are professionals. Before I get into trouble people participating in sport, but that are not as the above mentioned, are amateur athletes and there is nothing with that. They are the people that keep the sport and passion alive. In their pool the Pro athletes emerges.  An Athlete is not a normal person. An Athlete does not eat, sleep, train the same as a normal person. They push their bodies to where normal people usually get uncomfortable and stop. They do this in a controlled fashion and with help from their coaches and sport scientists, sport doctors and physio's. Their whole life revolves around training, training to win, be the best. They eat to tra

Kaino.... What?

Image
Hi There  It is Monday! I do not know one person who loves a Monday... Anyway, it is the beginning of our week and it can only go up from here. Today I want to talk about change. Yes, and we all suffer to a degree from Kainotophobia; the fear of change. This is why we usually fail at our new years' resolutions our new "healthy lifestyle". We usually try to change all at once. This is not how change works. The definition even tells us this.  Change noun:  an act or process  through which something becomes different. There needs to be an action and it needs to be processed. Nothing happens all at once. This is why most of us suffer from  Kainotophobia because we do not have the certainty of what the outcome of the change will be. But if we break the change down it becomes gradual and we seem to accept it easier and stick with it.  Let us not suffer from Kainotophobia, but embrace change gradually and change towards being better. Work through the process and learn along

Be Happy

Image
Hi There 😉 Sometimes I feel like we attempt to put everything in boxes. We don't  necessarily think that everything is linked. How we feel on the inside plays out somehow or somewhere in our lives. No matter how good we hide it. We use this knowledge when we encourage others or even ourselves when we need to work out the "bad" habits or neglect we do to ourselves. We tend to put others' health before our own, invest emotionally in others. We don't do the same for ourselves! Don't get me wrong. I am not advising everyone become conceited or narcissistic; just take care of yourself so that you can be a more healthy "emotional investor"! It is important to take care of yourself. Be happy and aim to be. Smile because why not? Breathe because we need it!! Live life because you only live once! Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

I'm Fine 😐 (Our Biggest Lie)

Image
Hi There Being fine is not what we must be. We should always aim for good, great or awesome.Sometimes I think we aim for just fine.Usually our fine... Well is not fine at all. It is a word we hide behind all our not fine feelings. When did we start being fine? Why have we moved closer to robots with no feelings being perfect? It is our innate nature to be imperfect! It is in this imperfection where our beauty lies! It is ok not to be fine. Take this weekend to work through your feelings and start  next week feeling good, great or awesome     Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

Push Yourself For YOURSELF Because No One Else Is Going To

Image
Hi There  We are halfway through the year! 😲 Can you believe it? It really is true, time moves quickly. Usually around this time I try to make time to reflect on the past six months. Have I reached my goals? What has happened (good or bad) that I did not expect? What is the path forward? I renew and review my goals and motivate myself to reach them.  We need to remember that no one can do it for us. We need to Do the WORK. We need to PUSH ourselves  for OURSELVES! No one else!  Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋
