1D Thinking Towards A Multidimensional Body

Image
Hi There One thing that really get me going is how we think about the body and "fitness". It is like when it comes to the body we become stupid. Sorry for being crass but we do. Think about it.  If your 5 year old comes to you ans says he/she wants to be a pilot; you do not just allow him/she to fly a plane. No. There is a process. We might encourage  him/she by giving them books and letting them watch movies about the subject.  Firstly there is a knowledge set required and physical training involved. And he/she is going to need to grow up first. This makes sense right?  Why will it be any different with the body? We train the body in increments. We do not just run a 5 km when we haven't even walked 1 km!! How does that makes sense?? There is a process and a set of knowledge involved and some physical training involved!!! We are more than the some of our parts. We have a emotional/motivational aspect to take in account and that is not all. We have physical deficit

We Are People Too...

Image
Hi There  Coaches, Personal Trainers, Instructors etc. are people too. I am saying this because I feel like we forget this factor. Even though they are carrying over their knowledge over to us and plan out our sessions and then essentially lead us in their sessions. They are human.  Sometimes their planing wasn't up to par or had some logistic problems, but to judge them too hard on this factor is not fair. I also want to say that experience plays a big role in planing successes. Also that it is sometime nerve wrecking to do so. The dynamics of the nature of movement makes planning difficult. I always when in trouble go to these people to help work it out. They can change a plan sp quick and precisely AND it works!!!   Coaches, Personal Trainers, Instructors etc. also get frustrated, have long and varied days, have too be motivated ALL THE TIME, which takes a lot of energy. Think about it. If they are not motivated how on earth are they going to motivate you? But luckily most

Having Accountability Works Better

Image
Hi There  My blogging this year is very slow, I want to ask the followers to bear with me. I want to give you quality content to read and I REALLY do believe that what I have ta say can make a difference, And what I have to say is important. That is why I do not want to bombard you with blogs that don't mean anything or just to waffle useless information... That said let us get to this blog. I want to encourage you today to make movement fun. I have been looking a lot at exercise Youtube videos. I have also thought about exercise fads that come and go... Like Tae Bo, Zumba, Insanity  etc. They come because they are fun, they go because we do not get good instruction and most likely get hurt and motivation to keep going gets lost. Following an instructional Dvd or whatever medium your are using does not motivate you to carry on and you get bored. He always says the same thing wears the same thing, nothing changes. Also you are in control of your session and if you decide to skip

You Can Not Change What You Do Not Know

Image
Hi There  To make a change we need to be be conscious of what you need to change. You can not change what you don't know.  So taking that first step in admitting that a change is needed is a very big step towards the change.  Another thing we need to keep in mind is that change is a process. EVERYTHING is a PROCESS. Change takes time and follows a specific process.  Making small changes and building on them is the best way to change. It doesn't just happen. So let us become conscious and make a change by starting small and manageable, building on your successes.   Consciousness is key. Have a great weekend!! Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

The Lie We Tell Ourselves

Image
Hi There  The biggest lie we tell ourselves and everyone who asks is.... I HATE EXERCISE... Yes you read correctly. It is a lie you tell everyone and you begin to believe it. Just hear me out. Firstly, usually you do it wrong... Read my last  blog on this matter. (Click this link)  ... and sometimes injure ourselves or over do it to the point that we do not want to go through the PAIN again... not the exercise... the PAIN.  Secondly, how do we know we are getting old or unfit? Isn't funny that we do not always realise or rather it takes us way longer to realise we are fitter than were but it takes us an instant to realise we are losing it? We only think of "exercise" when we realise we are moving harder or becoming tired more often. It is not the action of movement we hate it is the reaction from it because we usually do it wrong. We as human beings love to move. I believe it is a blessing, because we are the only species that do movement consciously. We literally

RECOVERY: Something to PRIORITIZE in 2018!

Image
Hi There Recovery is an important part of training and life. As humans we need rest. If we do not rest we die or suffer serious health issues. This fact should show that recovery should be planned and prioritized in our life.  As a Sport Scientist, I am going to explain recovery in terms of Training and because this science has to do with enhancing performance it is easy to see that recovery has the same importance in normal regular life. Again I am going to explain it as simple as possible. I am not going to use big words to try and convince you I am smart and you should listen to me. I want you to understand that taking some time to recover, (whether it is mentally, physically, spiritually ect. because we are more than just one thing, we are more than the sum of or parts!) is important and should be prioritized.  As a Sport Scientist, I measure "fitness" by how quick you recover from exertion. The quicker you recover the "more fit" you are. In other words:

A Never Ending... Journey

Image
Hi There  This is the time of the year I love to hate. Everyone is restless and tired at the same time. They want the big holiday, but then realize how much still needs to be done. It is also the time that everybody wants the bikini body for December. Problem is that a summer body is made in the winter. There really is no quick fix to being healthy, feeling and looking good. It is a process. Ironically it never stops! We go on a journey with our being and we discover new elements of ourselves. It is a never ending journey....  Enjoy your Monday and let us move through this week!! Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

What I Believe About... Perfection

Image
Hi There Welcome to the #BeliefSeries! This is where I share my core beliefs about certain topics. You are welcome to comment and leave a topic to be discussed. The #Belief Series  features Tuesdays and Thursday! Today's topic...Perfection   I believe "Perfection" lies in the imperfections. We cannot know what "perfect" is if we have not been or seen or experienced what imperfect is... Make sense? I also believe to be perfect you need to have been broken or still be. You cannnot be perfect and not have had perfect experiences of everything. I also believe it is an illusion. It is and always will be unattainable and unrealistic. What makes us as humans unique is our imperfections. I also believe that media makes us believe there is a "perfect" but this is not true all it does is hide the imperfections, which causes us to to the same.We need to learn to love our imperfections, as humans and as individuals.  We do not have to be "perfect". W

Enjoy the Present

Image
Hi There  It is Monday. Just incase you do not know and I am just stating the obvious... Do you ever feel like you have so much to do you are constantly living in and for the future? Where you need to be in the next hour... What you need to do before and in that hour... What's for dinner? We totally forget to live in the present. We need to slow down and BE PRESENT in NOW with what and with who you are doing it. You will never have now again. Even if now seems to be repetitive is is still a now you will never have again. W isolate ourselves by living in the future and not being present. We are so focused on the future we are not living our lives. Life is passing us by and when we have what we pursued we realize we never really lived so many opportunities went and we were to busy to notice.  Live your life now. Be productive today. Be Present.   Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

What I Believe About... Food!!!

Image
Hi There Welcome to the #BeliefSeries! This is where I share my core beliefs about certain topics. You are welcome to comment and leave a topic to be discussed. The #Belief Series  features Tuesdays and Thursday! Onward to today's topic... Food! I feel like every topic so far I have loved.Annddd I love food!! I  do not believe in diets and HATE them, but I believe in BALANCE. If I eat let's call it "bad" today I will focus on eating better today and work out a bit harder than I usually do. I also balance how and what I eat with how and why I train/workout. I look at food as follows :We eat to survive not survive to eat. This helps me to discern why am I eating and how I am eating.    I believe food is there to fuel us and make movement possible. I believe that eating should be a joyful activity and that food brings people together.  I believe food should not cause bad feelings and should definitely not cause any anxiety. We should focus on making better choices tha

I've Said It Once... And I'll Say It AGAIN

Image
Hi There  The choice is ours! We decide where we are going and how we move. The only hard part is changing how we think. When it comes to our health and wanting to shed some weight we all of a sudden we think differently. We throw logic out the window and hope for the best. It is a process, a journey. One that we need to prepare for like we do for everything. We just need discipline like for every other important goal or decision we make. If we think it is going to be hard, it is. If we think differently about it and change our motivation for this change it becomes easier. I truly believe we can move to become happy!! Move towards happiness!!! Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

Getting Personal - What We Think And How We Think Plays a HUGE Role

Image
Hi There😏 This last few weeks has been out of this world. I have grown and take some risks I would not have done in the past!! The most incredible thing is I am... wait for it... at ease! The studio is open and now it is time to get people moving!!! Do not get me wrong I have been working toward this step for a year! I have been stressing and pushing to get here. I know the work is not done, but looking back I see the path I have moved to get here and I can not believe it!! Through this entire journey I have realized my passion and how close to movement I am. Movement is fluid, it does not have a direction unless a force works upon it.  I want to encourage you to move, the more we move physically we start moving with our entire being. I really do believe we were made to move. We were made to enjoy movement, we find joy in movement. This is my core believe and what #NeverStopMoving is all about! It is about getting everybody to move and enjoy life fully!! I want everybody to

Kaino.... What?

Image
Hi There  It is Monday! I do not know one person who loves a Monday... Anyway, it is the beginning of our week and it can only go up from here. Today I want to talk about change. Yes, and we all suffer to a degree from Kainotophobia; the fear of change. This is why we usually fail at our new years' resolutions our new "healthy lifestyle". We usually try to change all at once. This is not how change works. The definition even tells us this.  Change noun:  an act or process  through which something becomes different. There needs to be an action and it needs to be processed. Nothing happens all at once. This is why most of us suffer from  Kainotophobia because we do not have the certainty of what the outcome of the change will be. But if we break the change down it becomes gradual and we seem to accept it easier and stick with it.  Let us not suffer from Kainotophobia, but embrace change gradually and change towards being better. Work through the process and learn along

Lagom:Just Right

Image
Hi There  We all know the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. I thought it was not to be greedy and to listen to your parents and be happy with what you have.  What do you think the moral of the story is?  Thinking about it now and being more "experienced" in life I think it shows us that what we think we want and need is always what we want and need... We as beings want to be balanced. Our life should be busy, but not too busy, just right. We want to have balance. Am I wrong?  We strive for the feeling of lagom!! I love that lagom says just right, not what is just right. Because I think "just right" means different things to all of us!! It is amazing.  I also believe that we sometimes strive to be "just right" according to others or society and that is not what our " just right" is.  The same with what media tells us is "fit" and "healthy". That all depends on your goal. On your Just Right.  Let us all strive tow

It's Friday!! Allow Yourself To Rest

Image
Hi There  It's FRIDAY!!! I want to encourage you to rest on weekends! To balance out your week. Catch up on social activities (not media) and unwind! Again this is easier said than done... Sometimes I feel like weekends are busier than our weekday's activities!! We need balance in our lives. We all know this. You need to allow yourself to rest and even out your activities of the week. It is important to unwind and de-stress. Make some awesome memories with the fam and friends. Just be for a few hours and you will be amazed how this will increase your productivity during the week. Take care of yourself and be an example to the ones around you!! Go Make Awesome Stories!    Keep Moving until ne xt time 👋

Stress Is Stress Is Stress 😖

Image
Hi there We are going to talk about... You have guessed it... Stress. What I am going to tell you might be something different that we don't hear everyday. Your body experiences stress exactly the same way. The problem is that we as beings experience different kinds of stress. We experience emotional stress, work stress, mental stress, physical stress and the list can go on. We understand the difference but the body does not. It experiences all of that stress the exact same way. the same hormones are excreted  every time we stress no matter what type we experience. This is why movement and exercise is so important. While exercise is also seen as stress to the body, the physiological changes within the body to cope with this stress is what is seen to relieve stress. This is why if we don't exercise or move more the stress hormones build up in our bodies over time and this is very bad.It is also why we feel better after a bout of movement or exercise, the feel good hormones c

Increased Awesomeness

Image
Hi There  There are days where you feel that you just can't keep up and you do not want to keep moving... These are the days we need to just stick with it... We can not give up. Remember as I mentioned before: To start is always the hardest step to take. When we are busy or "in it" it is easier to just carry on, push through, keep moving. The best part about it; is that you get stronger. It gets easier to carry on. This is the secret. There is no easy way, quick fix, no magic potion. You need to work for it. It is a journey that never ends, but has the potential to create the BEST YOU!!! We just need to think differently about movement and work it to our benefit. We were made to move. We find joy in movement. We just lost the ability to read our bodies and move it to our benefit and goals.  Sooo... When we experience these days... Just carry on and work on your increased awesomeness by doing it for yourself. Realize you are getting stronger!! Keep Moving until ne

Dedication Toward You

Image
Hi There  It is Monday today. The start of a week. The way we start...well just about everything is usually how we end it. Yes, we do go through some ups, downs and rough patches, but usually our attitude remains pretty much the same. This is also where our own motivation plays a role. We need to be dedicated when the "downs" and "rough patches" threatens our attitude. This is one part of our commitment to moving more. To do it for no one but yourself. It is an everyday recommit to oneself and the goal one has set for oneself.  Be dedicated to YOU... Not your feelings about yourself! Keep Moving until next time 👋

Finding Balance, Easier Said Than Done

Image
Hi There  Life is about balance. We know this. The challenge is finding it. Balance is a skill. We need to practice as we practice any skill. The problem is we do not how to start. My advise is just start... As an person trying and failing myself. We need balance in every aspect of our life. We need to take care of yourselves, because we matter and unfortunately we can not move at the speed of light. We may take it slow and easy as long as we alo go full speed ahead when the time comes. It is hard to let go and be kind to yourselves, but it is part of  gaining balance in our lives! Keep Moving until next time 👋
